Background
The Vision
The Church of the Epiphany, Gipton has a long
history of running projects to benefit the local
community and has been supporting community theatre
since 1997.
For the last six years our vision has been:-
"To develop a Community Arts Centre
where community and arts based activities can
help to build up self-esteem and social cohesion,
to promote the well-being of the people of Gipton."
The Centre
• Our original vision in 2000 was to refurbish
the church hall
• In 2002 we were approached by the Neighbourhood
Renewal Team to “think big” and develop
a new centre as part of the regeneration with
the majority of the funding being provided by
the Single Regeneration Budget and Leeds City
Council capital fund.
• Planning delays and financial constraints
meant that by August 2006 this scheme had become
unviable.
• We have now reverted to our original vision
of refurbishing the church hall and we anticipate
work will start early in 2007.
